From the beginning, the centres have been run by individual Committees, who attend to the staffing and financial management. Unfortunately, only five remain in operation. We are passionate about Bindarra and the remaining services being elevated as the example of quality Early Childhood and Community services.
- 1976
Initially Bindarra’s Committee was comprised of interested members of the public and parents of the children attending the centre. Gradually more and more parents accepted responsibility for their centre, and today, the Committee is now comprised solely of parents and known as the Management Committee and the Approved Provider, this is written into Bindarra’s Constitution to be so.
- 1981
The Ipswich City Council saw fit to grant the Centre total autonomy in March 1981 and the building and land at 18 Cole Street, Booval, became the property of the Bindarra Daycare Management Committee. The council provided ‘phasing out’ grants to the centre, and Bindarra Daycare continues to apply for, and at times receive, funds from the Ipswich City Council and the Federal Government.
